Art of Writing at the Museum of Art–DeLand
First Sunday of Every Month
What happens when you spend fifteen quiet minutes with a single work of art? You might discover your next poem, short story, or novel. Join us at the Museum of Art–DeLand for a creative writing experience that begins in the galleries and ends on the page. This monthly gathering offers inspiration, encouragement, and dedicated writing time in one of the area’s most beautiful creative spaces.
Start Your Novel Now
Four Tuesdays in July
You’ve carried that story idea long enough. This four-week workshop helps you transform scattered ideas into the foundation of a real novel. Together we’ll develop your premise, characters, setting, and story structure so you can move forward with confidence. By the end of July, you’ll have the framework of a book and a clear path toward a finished manuscript.
How to Write a Novel: A Class for Kids 12–15
Thursdays in July
This special five-week program gives middle-school writers the tools to build a novel of their own while sharing the experience with a parent, grandparent, or trusted adult. Participants follow the Hero’s Journey, the storytelling framework behind some of the world’s most beloved books and films. Along the way, families create, collaborate, and encourage one another while building separate story projects. One registration includes both participants.
Flash Fiction Lab
Third Sunday of Every Month
Some of the best story ideas arrive in an instant. Flash Fiction Lab combines creative prompts, surprising twists, and playful exercises to help writers generate fresh ideas and turn them into memorable stories. Whether you’re a beginner or a published author, you’ll leave with new material, new inspiration, and a renewed sense of creative momentum.
How to Publish Your Book on Amazon
August 27
Thousands of books appear on Amazon every day. How do authors actually get them there? In this live demonstration, you’ll watch a book move through Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing platform step by step. You’ll see exactly what happens behind the scenes, from setup and uploads to pricing and publication. If publishing has felt intimidating, this workshop will remove the mystery.
Halloween Writers’ Workshop
October 13
Ghosts. Witches. Haunted houses. Strange visitors in the night. Halloween arrives only once a year, and this special seasonal workshop is your chance to create a spooky story of your own. We’ll explore the ingredients that make readers keep turning pages long after dark and help you develop a chilling tale for the season.
Don’t Wait for “Someday”
Every writer knows the feeling.
One day I’ll start that novel.
One day I’ll join a writing group.
One day I’ll make time for my creativity.
The writers who make progress are the ones who choose a date and put it on the calendar.
We hope you’ll join us.
