Florida State Parks in Volusia County
- Blue Spring State Park (Orange City) — manatee refuge and a 72° spring run on the St. Johns. The spring boils into a turquoise ribbon that glows under the pines. Hours & fees

National Seashore & Wildlife Refuges
- Canaveral National Seashore — Apollo District (NSB) — wild Atlantic shoreline, dunes, lagoons. The dunes hide more tracks than tourists and glow under the wide Atlantic sky.
- Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge (DeLeon Springs) — wetlands, dike trails, wintering waterfowl. Wingbeats carry on the air long before you see the birds.
Volusia County Preserves & Coastal Parks
- Longleaf Pine Preserve (DeLand / NSB) — 12,000+ acres of flatwoods and cypress strands. Straight ranks of pine catch fire-orange light at the edge of day.
- Lyonia Preserve (Deltona) — scrub-jay habitat and sandy hiking loops by the Lyonia Environmental Center. Jays hop close, curious and bold in the pale scrub.
- Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve (Port Orange / NSB) — boardwalks, marsh overlook, long creek-side trails. Creek water reflects the sky in long silver stripes between the mangroves.
- Gemini Springs Park (DeBary) — twin springs, fishing pier, paved paths, dog park. The twin boils shimmer blue-green and send small ripples through the quiet lawn.
- Green Springs Park (Enterprise) — emerald spring; trailhead for Spring-to-Spring & East Central Regional Rail Trail. The deep jade pool glows beneath its dense canopy.
- Lake Beresford Park (DeLand) — loop trail with a spur toward Blue Spring via the Spring-to-Spring Trail. The lake lies still and glassy except for the white wake of passing rowers.
- Smyrna Dunes Park (New Smyrna Beach) — miles of accessible boardwalk with Atlantic, inlet, and river overlooks. Wind sweeps across the dunes with clean salt air from every direction.
- Lighthouse Point Park (Ponce Inlet) — ocean, inlet, and Halifax River vistas near the lighthouse. Tidewater breaks against the rocks in a steady, echoing rhythm.
Forests
- Tiger Bay State Forest (Daytona area) — lakes, pine flatwoods, off-grid trails. Still lakes mirror the tall pines with perfect accuracy.
- Ocala National Forest (near DeLand) — longleaf pines, sandhills, and wild riverbank marshes on the far shore. From the Volusia side of the St. Johns, the forest rises in a low green sweep beyond the water.
Scenic Municipal Parks
- Riverfront Esplanade (Daytona Beach) — manicured riverfront greens and oaks along the Halifax River. Long promenades open to river light and broad sky.
- Ponce Preserve (Ponce Inlet) — coastal hammock, observation tower, and marsh boardwalk. Elevated views stretch across the inlet and tidal flats.
- Fortunato Park (Ormond Beach) — Halifax River green with views of the Granada Bridge. The bridge arches overhead in sweeping lines of steel and shadow.
- Central Park (Ormond Beach) — ponds, boardwalks, and wooded trails across multiple park sections. Water, leaf, and light shift as you move from pond to pond.
- Riverside Park (New Smyrna Beach) — river overlooks, piers, bridges, and breezy open greens. The river widens here with calm, bright reflections.
- Buena Vista Park (New Smyrna Beach) — broad river panorama and quiet shade. Clean horizons make it a natural sketching spot.
- George R. Kennedy Memorial Park (Edgewater) — intracoastal waterfront with long views. Wide sky and long water meet in a flat, bright line.
- River Breeze Park (Oak Hill) — Mosquito Lagoon vistas and fishing piers. The lagoon opens into a sweeping bowl of light.
