Our Story

In Volusia County, writers have spent years working in the quiet—tucked into coffee shops, back rooms, and spare bedrooms—while the rest of the arts took center stage.

Volusia Writers is turning a scattered community of storytellers into a visible creative force—and rewriting the county’s cultural script in the process.

Our Founder

Corrine Kenner is the author of more than forty books, including a mystery series set in a fictionalized version of DeLand. She serves as the collective’s creative compass, and she champions the stories that make Volusia County more than a place on the map.

Our Headquarters

Our headquarters are based in the heart of DeLand’s Arts and Culture District, a neighborhood known for murals, bookshops, and walkable charm.

Here, the creative pulse of the county meets the quiet rhythm of writers at work, and inspiration is everywhere.

Independent by Design

We offer classes, workshops, and creative writing experiences. Our group thrives on curiosity, conversation, and connection.

Volusia Writers range from debut authors to lifelong journalists, as well as novelists, poets, and playwrights. And while every creative journey looks different, we all share one thing in common: we all have stories to tell, and those stories are rooted in the place and time we share.
